Your cargo, carried by the wind.
Kaap Kargo is a pioneering sustainable shipping company that brings back traditional sailing cargo on historic trade routes. By transporting coffee, rum, cacao and other goods powered by nothing but the wind, we offer brands a cleaner, more authentic and inspiring way to cross the oceans.
Our sailing cargo ship Ide Min is crewed by ten people who handle her sails and rigging by hand, the way merchant ships have always crossed oceans, and she arrives with a story your customers will want to hear.

A sustainable shipping company.

We are in transition to fully emission-free transport. Wind already carries our cargo across the ocean; what fuel remains is spent on harbour manoeuvres, calms and safety, and every voyage we push it further back. Our aim is to revolutionise the maritime industry by offering wind-powered cargo solutions that a serious business can plan around: a ship, a season and a hold that reach the other side of the Atlantic on the oldest and cleanest engine there is.
That matters more every year. The International Maritime Organization puts shipping at roughly 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions today, and has warned it could climb toward 17% by 2050 on the current course. Sail freight bends that line the other way. The same trade winds that carried cargo for centuries still blow, and they are free.
We are working toward a voyage that burns nothing at all, and we are further along than most: solar panels charge the batteries, a shaft generator is going in so Ide Min makes her own power while she sails, and on long stretches of trade-wind passage the engine simply stays cold. What fuel we still use goes to manoeuvring in harbour, to safety at sea, and for now to generating the power our lights and navigation run on. Every improvement we make is measured in fuel we did not burn.
Conscious brands want supply chains that reflect their values.
A story your customers can taste
Coffee, cacao and rum that crossed the ocean under sail: sails set by hand, watches stood around the clock, sacks passed over the rail shoulder to shoulder. The voyage becomes part of your product, and no container slot has a story in it.
Freight at a fraction of the carbon
Wind moves the ship and everything in her hold; the engine is kept for harbour and for safety, not for crossing oceans. Your logistics finally match the standards your producers already work to.
A voyage that mirrors your mission
Partnering with Kaap Kargo means your product travels in a way that mirrors your mission. Each voyage becomes a story of purpose: authentic and visual. From origin to shelf, your impact literally sails across the ocean and becomes part of your brand mission.
A story that sells, right on your packaging.
Every shipment earns the right to carry our badge: less a carbon label than a maker's mark, in the family of cask-aged and hand-thrown. Put it on your bags, bars and bottles, backed by a real voyage, real photographs and a documented account of the crossing your cargo actually made.
How it works

Coffee, cacao and rum, sailed to Amsterdam.
The brands we carry for sell the voyage along with the product. Their beans, pods and casks crossed the Atlantic under sail in our hold, and that crossing is now part of how their customers know them.
